Brighton Kite Festival one, if not the longest, running kite festivals in the UK. It will be taking place on the 12th & 13th July 2008 in Stanmer Park, Brighton, this will see the 30th consecutive year of the Brighton Kite Festival.

This is a free day out with no admission charge and we have even arranged free parking at Sussex University (Car Parks P5 and P3) map.

This years festival will be aimed at the family and young flyers to come along and see some spectacular kite and kite flying. We will have displays from leading kite flyers from around the United Kingdom.

There will be a children's Kite making workshop running between 12.00 and 2.00pm both days where the children can make a basic sled kite and then go off and fly it. An arena display by these kites is planned for 3.00pm when some prizes will be given  out for kites that catch the eye in the way they fly or the flyer flies them.

A few of the teams are:-

Avon Kite Flyers:- A UK kite club from the Bristol area with some amazing kite and kite flyers. This is a club that Brighton Kite Flyers can often been seen flying together at festivals around the UK and have built up quite an affiliation with them while doing so.

Brighton Kite Flyers:- As well as checking all is going well through out the day Brighton Kite Flyers will be showing you a wide range of kites and flying styles and techniques including some of their large and well known inflatable creations, Indian kite fighting, Rok fighting and much more

Team Evolver:- Karl & James Robershaw, World champions for several  years fling both 2 & 4 line kites. in precision displays that will take your breath away. Many of the kites you will see them fly are designed and manufactured by Karl who is known for his design as well as his ability to fly kite.

Team Spectrum:- Bryan & Karl are a father and son display team who have over the past twelve years been displaying at festival around southern England. There display include synchronized kite flying choreographed to music. But also Karl is fast becoming know for his ability to  fly 3 2 line sports kites at the same time and still be choreographed to  music, a site well worth seeing.

Parking:- With limited spaces being available in Stanmer Park parking we have arranged for free parking at Sussex University, in the two of their car parks nearest to the Park (P5 and P3) map.

More detail will follow soon so keep an eye on the site to find out.
